The EU and the SNN

Our Ocean Battery and Ocean Foundation projects are co-financed by the European Union, the European Regional Development Fund, the SNN (Samenwerkingsverband Noord-Nederland, Northern Netherlands Alliance), the Province of Groningen and several other parties and partners.

Ocean Battery
project

Our Ocean Battery is a sustainable, modular and scalable energy storage system designed for offshore renewable energy sources such as offshore wind.

With this financial support, the Ocean Battery technology is further developed to TRL5. Prototypes are developed and experimental measurements are taken in a realistic environment.

During this project, there is a continuous interaction between knowledge questions to be answered, models to be validated and system designs to be further developed and scaled up. For this we work closely together with the University of Groningen.

Our innovative Ocean Foundation is based on both suction anchor technology and burial in the seabed by dredging and serves to safely and cost-effectively secure the Ocean Battery system to the seabed.

With this financial support, the Ocean Foundation technology is further developed to a market-ready system. The aim is to design, develop and test a prototype of the Ocean Foundation system.
